The former Hawthorne Hotel, a 10-floor apartment hotel opened in 1928, was added to the National Historic Register in 1979. Efforts to renovate this Spanish revival-style hotel with Moorish and Baroque elements fizzled in the past due to lack of funding.  With the resurgence of the Main Street corridor and the upcoming KC Streetcar addition soon to be passing at the Netherlands’ front door, Exact is eager to build modern midtown housing for those who appreciate a mix of historic architecture and modern luxury.
